Programme Manager (Location: Oxford)

Department: Project Management

This is an exciting opportunity in in our rapidly expanding business for a Programme Manager. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of programmes designed to deliver strategic company objectives, developing the future product offering of Faradion and delivering cutting edge sodium ion battery technology at scale. The assigned programmes of projects must be managed, critically evaluated and reviewed in a continuous improvement process and shaped in close collaboration with the senior leadership team to ensure Faradion is consistently delivering against its objectives.

You will have:

  • Either a Bachelor of Engineer or Bachelor of Science degree.
  • A degree in either a science or engineering discipline, a professional project management certification is highly desired.
  • Strong programme management experience, ideally in an R&D environment or new product development environment for electrical, electronic, or chemical products.
  • Experience of delivering projects in a technical project environment and interfacing with R&D teams.
  • A broad understanding of managing innovative projects from low TRL 3 up to new product introduction.
  • Deep understanding and experience of Project Management fundamentals applied throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex programmes including multiple simultaneous projects in a fast moving and dynamic environment.
  • Significant experience of stakeholder management, situational and commercial awareness, and the ability to communicate in the best interest of the company.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills both with experience of managing internal teams and also external teams located. internationally Experience of product development (e.g. exposure to APQP).
  • An analytical mind-set, attention to detail and ability to challenge assumptions and convention.
  • Integrity and assertiveness, ability to hold teams to account to deliver.
  • Experience of line management responsibility.

You will be:

  • Expected to take ownership for the successful delivery of Programme(s) of projects aligned with core company objectives and ensure the successful delivery of cell and battery products to customers and associated technology development.
  • Responsible for the quality of reporting and communication for assigned Programme(s) to senior management.
  • Expected to develop, motivate, guide and hold to account cross-functional programme teams.
  • Expected to support and mentor project managers to develop detailed project plans to guide clients, staff members and project teams and revising based on changing needs and requirements.
  • Expected to be self-motivated and able to resolve conflict, inspire teams, mentor peers.
  • Expected compile and submit status reports to clients, management, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Must be able to ensure and drive continuous improvement throughout the programmes.
  • Expected to contribute to the development of the PM capability including supporting the implementation of appropriate PPM software and developing and improving project and programme monitoring via KPIs.
  • Must be able to work independently, with little guidance.

Project Manager (Location: Oxford)

Department: Project Management

This is an exciting opportunity in our rapidly expanding Product and Applications Team for a Project Manager. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple projects, developing battery products to customers worldwide.

You will have:

  • A degree in an engineering or science discipline.
  • At least 3 years project management experience, ideally in the development of electrical or electronic products.
  • Knowledge of Project Management fundamentals including agile and waterfall project management methodologies.

Industrialisation and Technology Transfer Manager (Location: Sheffield/Oxford)

Department: Operations | Reporting to: Director of Operations

In this role you will manage the Industrialisation process covering PCAM, CAM and cell manufacturing, in multiple locations simultaneously. You will be responsible for designing the technical transfer package to meet the needs of the business and ensuring the needs of our stake holders are met through the delivery of information on time and in full. The management and mitigation of process risks is critical for a successful startup.

You will work closely with manufacturing partners and our R&D function to ensure all required and relevant information is captured, compiled, authorised and issued in line with programme timelines.

Within Faradion, you will be part of an integrated, global, team where you will support our operational readiness, scale-up and transfer programme. This will require ownership of the Technical Transfer process for successful start-up of manufacturing assets. Fostering a strong link with our parent company to ensure that the needs relating to technical transfer are met, and that handovers are successful.

You will have:

  • Either a Bachelor of Engineer or Bachelor of Science degree.
  • A strong experience in technical transfer to manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in transferring technical products from Laboratory to Manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstratable knowledge and understanding of chemical processes.
  • Proven experience in team management, both direct and indirect.
  • Previous exposure to trial design.
  • Experience of programme, project and workstream planning.

You will be:

  • Expected to lead, and manage, the Industrialisation and Scale-up requirements on a global basis.
  • Driving the trials program ensuring the target data is generated on time and in full.
  • Required to develop and implement a technical transfer process whereby all data can transact through Faradion to our stakeholders.
  • Responsible for maintaining a risk log and support development of mitigations.
  • Expected to develop strong relationships with our manufacturing base and our parent company.
  • Responsible for ensuring that data is captured, compiled and authorised appropriately prior to transfer.
  • Expected to interface between technology (R&D), pilot operations, quality testing and full-scale operations for material trials, development and technical transfers (including vendor trials).
  • Able to work within a PMO process providing updates on the Scale-Up transfer programme.
  • Expected to support establishing Faradion as a centre of excellence for Na-ion battery technology.
  • Expected to travel internationally and between company sites (Sheffield/Oxford, Mumbai/Jamnagar in India) on a regular basis.

Battery Test Engineer (Location: Oxford)

Department: Products and Applications | Reporting to: Director of Products and Applications

Due to rapid growth we have a fantastic opportunity for a Battery Test Engineer to join our Products and Application team.  You will establish and perform test processes and procedures to confirm that our battery products meet the defined specification.  You will take the lead on  projects in terms of performance and robust verification testing

You will have:

  • An engineering qualification (e.g. HNC/D, Degree) and equivalent experience in a relevant sector.
  • Strong experience of test engineering of electrical or electronic products, with battery experience desirable.
  • Familiarity with electrical, EMC, climatic, environmental, lifetime test techniques and relevant standards.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team orientated environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of design FMEAs.

You will be:

  • Able to work with and alongside other members of the team to identify and develop the verification strategy for new products.
  • Highly disciplined, analytical and organised.
  • Able to collaborate with the team to prioritise and plan development of performance and robustness test method & equipment.
  • Able to review and present test results (including statistical techniques where appropriate), conclusions and advice.
  • Able to evaluate and align requirements for product development.
  • Specify, design, build, and develop tests and equipment alongside test rig architects to enable the required testing.
  • Partner with external test houses to ensure alignment.

Senior Battery Engineer (Mechanical) (Location: Oxford)

Department: Products & Applications | Reporting to: Mechanical Engineering Team Leader

We have an exciting opportunity in our rapidly expanding Products & Applications Team for a Senior Battery Engineer. You will be responsible for the mechanical engineering development of battery modules and systems initially for BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) but growing to a wider range of applications.

You will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
  • A proven track-record of battery development.
  • Experience in battery design including safety, thermal management, mechanical, structural and sealing.
  • Experience of assembling and testing prototype batteries in a commercial or academic setting.
  • Experience with CAD software and FEA for thermal and structural analysis.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working to achieve.
  • The ability to prepare technical reports for dissemination throughout the company, making recommendations for technical progression.
  • Experience reporting progress in regular updates to your line manager and the Project Management team, and comfortable presenting to the senior management team as required.
  • Preferably experience with hazardous / high voltage battery system design.

You will be:

  • Technically lead projects in the Products and Application team.
  • Design the mechanical aspects of battery modules and systems, considering all relevant aspects of the products including safety and thermal management.
  • Manage your own activities and technically managing other engineers on your project/s in relation to milestones and deliverables agreed with the Project Management team.

We have an exciting opportunity in our rapidly expanding Products & Applications Team for a Senior Battery Engineer. You will technically lead projects, inspiring others in your team, and be responsible for systems engineering of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and a wider range of applications in the future.

You will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical / Electronic / Systems Engineering or similar degree.
  • A good understanding of Battery technologies and experience of technically leading projects.
  • Have broad, practical engineering skills and an analytical, methodical approach to problem-solving, fault-finding, calibration and testing.
  • Proficiency in programming using Python or other similar languages or software tools.
